The wisdom circle

The elders in this community are not an afterthought to the mission; they are its authors. This is the generation that built the first safe rooms, survived the years that tried hardest to erase them, and kept the door open long enough for everyone else to walk through it. The Senior Programming circle exists on a simple conviction: our history deserves company. Isolation is one of the sharpest health risks of growing older, and belonging is its treatment, so this circle gathers, honors, and celebrates our elders, and puts the whole organization’s arm around the people who carried it here.

A Circle of Community: Stronger together

Community, empowerment, and celebration for our elders, because our history deserves company. Our senior programming grows through partnership. With SAGE, the nation’s leading organization in elder advocacy and services, our elders are connected to national resources, including a friendly voice any hour through the SAGE elder hotline. With Jewish Community Services, wellness and social connection expand for older adults across Miami-Dade. Partnership means our elders get the reach of national movements with the warmth of a local room.

Los Guerreros: A community of warriors

Peer support and empowerment for people living with HIV: a room that honors long-term survivors and welcomes the newly diagnosed with equal warmth. Los Guerreros means the warriors, and the name is earned; this is the community that turned survival into kinship and those connections into strength. Led by Eddie Orozco, whose role leading HIV testing at Pridelines means the bridge between this circle and Thrivelines Health & Wellness is a person, not a referral form. Coffee & Conversations: Adults 55 and wiser

Good coffee, real talk, and chosen family, on a standing rhythm you can build a week around. Coffee & Conversations is the simplest program we run and one of the most important: a table where elders trade wisdom, laughter, and the news of each other’s lives, because the antidote to isolation has always been an invitation with your name on it. From financial advice to tips on protecting yourselves from modern, pesky scammers, this is a safe space for everyone. The HALO Awards: An annual tradition of honor

Once a year, the community gathers in its finest to say thank you out loud. The HALO Awards honor local heroes of HIV and AIDS advocacy, centering the elders and long-term survivors whose courage carried us here, alongside the caregivers, organizers, and allies who stood with them. The 5th Annual HALO Awards filled the Overtown Performing Arts Center in June 2026, and the tradition returns every year, because gratitude, like care, works best on a schedule.
